Reviewing Cards

Open the Amber web app to review your due cards. The review flow is straightforward but powerful.

The review flow

  1. A card’s front (question) is shown
  2. Type your answer in free-form text
  3. The LLM grader evaluates your response against the card’s back (answer)
  4. You see your accuracy score and feedback
  5. Select your self-rating: Again, Hard, Good, or Easy
  6. FSRS schedules the next review based on your rating

Free-form answers

Unlike traditional flashcard apps, you don’t need to match an exact answer. Write your response in your own words — the AI grader understands paraphrasing, partial answers, and different levels of detail.

The accuracy score (0-100%) is informational. It helps you gauge how well you knew the material, but you choose the FSRS rating.

Grading modes

You can toggle between two modes in the review UI:

  • AI grading — the LLM evaluates your answer and provides a score with feedback
  • Self grading — you reveal the answer and rate yourself without LLM evaluation

Switch between modes at any time during a review session.

Triage

New cards enter a triage queue before joining your review rotation. In triage, you can:

  • Accept the card as-is
  • Edit the front or back
  • Delete cards you don’t want
